Disciple was founded in London in 2015 and originally came out of the music industry. We started as a custom app agency, building apps for established acts to connect directly with their fans—we built for the likes of Luke Bryan and The Rolling Stones, and we've since built 2,000 apps and served over 2.5 million community members.
The biggest legacy of that is our focus on mobile apps. All of our plans come with a branded mobile app—your own app, in the app stores. We've also kept the white-glove support from those agency days: from the first call, through exploring the platform, all the way to going live and running your community, there's a human there.
We're owned by management and focused on delivering tailored communities to a wide range of organisations.
Here are 4 main reasons to choose Disciple over the alternatives.
1. A white-label mobile app is non-negotiable for you
If a true native mobile app is core to your community rather than a nice-to-have, that's us. Few platforms treat the native app as core rather than an add-on—ours are beautiful, reliable (99.98% uptime), and included on every plan.
Why an app, if you're on the fence?
- It's easier to make yourself part of your members' daily lives.
- It brings legitimacy and seriousness to your community—this isn't just another online space people join and leave.
- Push notifications: targeted comms straight to their phone, alongside their emails, WhatsApps, and Instagram notifications.
- It's a home for your business on important real estate—their home screen. Having a clear, highly accessible place for members to tap into your world has many benefits, not all of them strictly quantifiable.
2. You value human support at every step
With Disciple, you speak to a human from the first demo. Where custom integrations are needed, our tech team maps a bespoke spec with you. Through onboarding, you work with a success manager. You'll never be alone.
Elsewhere this level of support exists—but only on the most premium plans, bolted onto a self-serve model built for scale and hyper-growth. We've made it a competitive advantage because we understand how hard running a community can be.
3. You need something flexible, not cookie-cutter
Every Disciple app is built from the same foundations, but the building blocks are granular—so an app can take the shape of the organisation running it, rather than the other way round. That's partly our legacy as a custom-build agency, and partly a deliberate choice.
Flexibility comes in 2 flavours, and you may need both.
- Experience flexibility. Change the layout, branding, and home screen, and get granular in setup. A community can have distinct experiences for different stakeholder groups—members see one home, partners another—without having people get in each other's way. The look and feel of Disciple apps is more flexible too: there's more visual real estate you can make yours.
- Stack flexibility. We assume you already have systems—a CRM, a marketing stack, a delivery operation—and we integrate into them rather than demanding to replace them. The community is one node in your world, not a new system of record you have to reorganise around.
4. We're European
We serve customers all over the world, with about 70% in the US. But we're London-based, and proudly so. For some organisations that matters—data residency, GDPR posture, procurement comfort. If it matters to you, it's worth knowing that most of our competitors, like most of tech, are based in the US.
